As the police continued with their investigation yesterday into Tuesday's Can Pastilla killings, when 84-year-old Sebastian Arbona Mayol shot his wife and then turned the gun on himself, it appears that he spent all Monday night planning how he was going to end his and his wife's lives. Sources close to the case revealed yesterday that the weapon used was an old pistol and that Sebastain Mayol shot his wife twice and fired three rounds at himself at very close range. After having shot his wife he telephoned the police to inform them of what he had done and that he was about to take his own life. But yesterday police investigators said that Sebastian told Local Police over the phone that he called them “so that they knew what was happening and that there would be no need for an investigation”. After putting the phone down, he shot himself in the head twice before placing the barrel of the nine millimetre pistol into his mouth and pulling the trigger for a third time. Detectives said that evidence at the scene suggests that he spent all of Monday night planning the killing. Apparently, only his wife Antonia had been to bed on Monday night, leading police to suspect that he didn't even go to bed as he worked out his plan. Antonia, who suffered from severe Alzheimer's disease and had been married to Sebastian for 58 years, rose early on Tuesday morning and at 9 am went to sit in the kitchen - where her husband shot her 30 minutes later.
