The Calvia council and the Balearic government have reached agreement over reforms to the bus service, which may come into force before the end of the summer. Antoni Garcia Salvador, the socialist deputy Mayor, said that total agreement had been reached and that he had been assured the new service would be functioning this summer. A contract will be drawn up to run the Line 21 of the EMT (Palma's municipal transport company) and the new urban service of Calvia. Although the Number 21 to Palma Nova is still running, it has been declared illegal by the courts after an appeal by the Catalina Marques company (the EMT cannot operate outside the Palma municipality). The only condition the government has laid down is that the lines should not interfere with or contradict the content of the master plan for Majorca.
