Next summer Majorca's largest leisure and commercial complex, Festival Park Majorca, will open its doors to the general public in Marratxi. The £50 million-plus development is being carried out by Festival Parks, which is a European company which specialises in the development of outlet malls and leisure centres which has offices in Stockholm, Madrid and Majorca with its head office in Wales. There are currently five Festival Parks planned across Europe. The company was founded by a group of leading Welsh businessmen and the opening of Majorca's festival park will give a whole new dimension to family fun and shopping on the island and going to the movies in Majorca will take a twenty year leap forward. Festival Park will include a 20-screen cinema complex with screens dedicated throughout the year to showing films in English. The complex will also feature a 3'300 square metre Big Fun Family Entertainment Centre incorporating ten pin bowling, billiards, video games, children's play area, a host of varied restaurants, bars, cafes and there will be two big plazas. The first phase of the project, 35'000 square metres of leisure and factory outlet shopping, will see one of the largest and best centres of its kind in Europe, rise up at the site just seven kilometres outside Palma.
