The QE2 is pulling into Palma this morning to give passengers a brief look around the Island. There will be no one more pleased on Majorca to see the ship than Mandy-Jo Walter - PA to the ship's captain for three years and who met her partner whilst working on board. The Queen Elizabeth 2 was built in 1969 and is one of the most famous cruise ships in circulation. Owned and run by the Cunard group, the same group responsible for the Titanic and the Mauretania, she is the pride of the fleet. She has a gross tonnage of over 70'000 tons and is over 293 metres long. The liner has had a chequered history, in 1972 she was the victim of a bomb threat whilst travelling form New York to Southampton. Luckily the threat was only a hoax and the culprit was arrested but it is proof of the high profile status of this luxury liner.
The QE2 was our love boat
