German businessman and car hire tycoon Hasso Schutzendorf, who was assaulted and robbed along with his wife at their Valldemossa home on Thursday night, said yesterday it was the work of the German mafia. He also revealed that he has been receiving threats for some time and that he is convinced there is a connection. Two hooded and apparently armed men stormed the house and Hasso said yesterday they were sent by the individual who had been threatening to kill me unless I met his demands for money. The German businessman yesterday told of how at 10pm on Thursday night he was in bed and his wife was giving him a foot massage. I heard a noise on the stairs, but I thought it was one of the staff. Suddenly two hooded and armed men entered the bedroom. Hasso said that both he and his wife were threatened at gun point while they were forced to lie face down on the bed. They then tied and gagged us with the telephone cable. They hit me, trying to force me to tell them where the safe was, but I don't have one, Hasso said.
