Love is in the air this summer with cruise lines having reported a boom in people wanted to get married, honeymoon and renew their vows while cruising the Mediterranean. Cruise lines have reported a growing number of people opting for the fairy tale wedding and that getting married at sea is no longer stuff of legends - it is a dream which has become a reality according to the cruise industry. Some cruise lines reported a 25 per cent increase in these types of romantic holidays last year and a similar increase has been forecast for this year with the Mediterranean becoming an increasingly popular destination and rival to the Caribbean. In fact, the “love” market has become so important that many of the cruise lines have employed special full time wedding and honeymoon planners, whose job it is to take care of all the details, from the flowers and photographs to food and the ceremony, thus providing a further attraction to the package by alleviating much of the stress involved with planning wedding.
