New changes in traffic were introduced in the Avenidas yesterday because of the construction of the underground car park in the Avda Conde Sallent, and many drivers were caught unawares. This led to considerable chaos, particularly at rush hour. However, police sources said that the changes are now being made so frequently as work progresses, that they have less of an impact each time, since many drivers now opt for alternative routes as a matter of course. This theory will be tested this morning when yet more changes are introduced. From today, the road works are expected to occupy the side of the Avda Conde Sallent with odd numbers, between Francesc de Borja Moll and Sant Miquel. As a result of this, traffic will go along the side with even numbers. The car park will have room for 700 vehicles in four storeys. The council ditched plans to have the stretch of the Avenidas which runs through the Plaza España put underground as the constructors wanted to close the Avenidas entirely to traffic while work was carried out.
More traffic chaos as the road works continue in the Avenidas
