Balearic ports have this year handled the fourth largest amount of cruise passengers in Spain. Figures released by the Ministry for Development, show that Balearic ports, during the first five months of this year, handled a total of 470'258 passengers. The busiest cruise port in Spain is Tenerife, which from the start of the year has handled nearly two million passengers, followed by Algeciras with 1.3 million passengers, Ceuta with 875.533, the Balearics, and the fifth busiest Barcelona which this year has handled 354.581 passengers. Last year cruise traffic through the Balearics fell by 14 per cent with a total of 622.663 passengers. The figures for the first period of the year indicate that the Balearic cruise industry is on course for an increase in passenger traffic.
