The Majorcan Blood Donors Association has issued an urgent appeal for blood donors, as reserves are now below minimum, because of the huge demand there has been this week. In a communique issued yesterday, it said that the blood groups most in demand in the Balearics are A negative, 0 positive, 0 negative and B negative. The Association said that although in recent months, the number of donations has been high, there has been an exceptional demand because of the high number of operations and accidents. A spokesman called for collaboration and solidarity to be able to overcome this temporary situation and attend to all the persons who need blood to save their lives. Its slogan is with 15 minutes of your time you can save a life. Donations can be made in the Blood Bank, the Banc de Sang, in Calle Rossello y Cazador 20, Palma. The hours are Monday to Friday from 8am to 8pm and Saturdays from 9am to 1.30pm. There is a ban on donations from British subjects who spent six months or more (not necessarily in a single stretch) in Britain between the years 1980 and 1996, a spokesman told the Bulletin yesterday.
