The Balearic government will spend 150 million pesetas on three advertising campaigns to persuade people to save energy, after receiving a report indicating that demand will leap by almost six per cent this year. Priam Villalonga, the minister of innovation and energy, said yesterday that this could not be sustained and it was essential to rationalise demand. The first of the campaigns (Save energy, preserve the environment) started yesterday and will continue until the end of September. It will cost 35 million pesetas and includes posters and stickers in hotels as well as a web site. The other two campaigns will cost 35 and 75 million pesetas respectively and will be launched at the end of this year and early next year. The minister said that the campaigns were designed to educate our attitudes in the daily use of energy.
