At the end of this month it will be two years since the sadistic and brutal murder of Briton Yvonne O'Brien at a private chalet in the popular tourist resort of Alcudia, but still the murder remains a mystery. But to mark the second anniversary of her death, the Guardia Civil now claim that they have located the killer. The latest developmentsin the case point to a man from Luxembourg who was in Majorca at the time of the killing. For the past 24 months the Guardia Civil murder squad have been working hard on trying to find the killer. Last year they thought the had caught the suspect when a German fireman was arrested in Hamburg. However DNA tests on blood found on clothes at his Hamburg flat showed that the blood was his and the cas was again thrown in to dissaray with the police mounting a fresh investigation. But it can be revealed today that the Guardia Civil are confident that 40-year-old Gaston is there man. Apparently he was discharged form a psychiatric hospital in May of 1999 and police have known all along that they are not dealing with the usual suspect because of the savage way in which O'Brien, a popular but somewhat eccentric animal lover, was mutilated. Gaston came to Majorca after leaving hospital and got to know O'Brien in Alcudia: both were partial to alcohol.
Police believe Alcudia killer is in Luxembourg
