Holiday giant Airtours will be offering their staff a big thank you in the form of a party to take place tomorrow at Majorca's Aquacity. It is being organised by management of the Manchester based tour firm, who want to express their satisfaction to all their Majorcan team for their hard work and dedication shown during the recent coach drivers' strike. Work for the team began two weeks before the strike sprung in to action. Regional Customer Services Manager Rob Darby explained the contingency plans yesterday; we organised overnighting any stranded passengers, arranged picnic boxes via hotel chain Globales, had 2'000 chicken lunch boxes produced when hot food at the airport ran out and we were one of the few operators to mass book taxis - about 200 for the weekend. Mr Darby also said that the group arranged liaisons with local supermarkets for additional food supplies at the airport and booked over 900 overnight hotel stays for stranded passengers at Palma airport.
