Chief balearic tourism guide resigns

The President of the Balearic Association of Professional Tour Guides, Pilar Benítez, yesterday resigned in protest over the decision taken by the association's general assembly not to go ahead with strike action called for tomorrow. Industrial action has been organised in protest over the rising number of unregistered guides operating in the Balearics, an issue which has become an annual dispute, but the general assembly decided that, in view of the serious damage caused to the Balearics' image by the coach strike, further industrial action in the region would only make matters worse.
