Ways of improving the standard of package holidays are being discussed at a meeting of UK representatives and Spain's tourism minister, Eduardo Gamero, a former Balearic Minister for Tourism. Two holiday health and safety campaign groups are joining the UK's two biggest tour operators Thomson and Airtours for the meeting in Madrid with the minister Gamero. The UK delegation will also be meeting a representative from the Spanish national tourist board. Brenda Wall, founder of Holiday TravelWatch, said: I would dearly like to see holiday dangers vastly reduced. With her was Molly Maher, president of Consumer Safety International, who said: It would be a huge step forward if the Spanish minister agrees to help us lead the way with safety improvements. Other countries may well follow the lead of Spain and the UK.
