People came from across the island to join the congregation at the Anglican Church in Palma yesterday evening for the institution of the Reverend Robert Ellis, the new Chaplain. The service was led by the Archdeacon of Gibraltar, the Very Reverend Kenneth Robinson who was assisted by the Reverend Clive Cooper, the Chaplain in the Port of Pollença. The British Consul Alan Smith and his wife attended, as did his British Consulate Staff, along with the United States Consular Agent Tumi Bestard. A Canon from Palma cathedral was also present, so too were representatives from the Catholic Church from various areas of Majorca and Eivissa. In his welcoming address the Archdeacon also thanked representatives from the Norwegian and Finnish churches on the island for attending as well as the Salvation Army and the Santa Ponsa Community Church.
A warm welcome
