For the first time in more than a decade British tourists have outnumbered their German counterparts in Majorca this year. The slump in German tourism and the moderate increase from visitors from the United Kingdom means tha the British will be on pole position in Majorca. The local ministry for tourism has praised the loyalty of British tourists. Figures expected to be relased towards the end of this month are expected to confirm the supremacy of the British market in Majorca. It is estimated the German tourism will have fallen by between 10 and 15 percent during the crucial June to September months. The local ministry for tourism will be launching a campaign in Germany in an effort to win back the tourists who have deserted Majorca this year. The local ministry for tourism has blamed the economy difficulties in Germany for the fall in tourism. Tour operators claim they are going elsewhere with Croatia proving to be exceptionally popular.
