Camping appears to be becoming more popular in Spain and the Balearics and last month, September, 2.500 campers came and stayed at one of the six Balearic camp sites which were open. According to a report from the National Statistics Institute, of the 2.500, 1.800 were Spanish and the rest foreigners, but all spent an average of five nights camping in the region. The number of campers in Spain last month was eight per cent up on September last year with just under half a million people opting for a tent. 25 per cent of foreign campers were German and 24 were British.
