AGRICULTURE minister in the Balearics, Margalida Moner, presented the “Good Food Route” yesterday, a project to which 38 quality food producers have subscribed this year.

Participation is expected from 6'000 people who will be able to gain first-hand knowledge of how quality food and wines are produced on the Islands.
Moner ventured along one such route in Soller yesterday, accompanied by Joan Simonet, managing director of the Semilla company, and Miquel Angel Frau, director of the Quality Food and Wine Institute (Iqua).

According to Simonet, the “Good Food” routes which were visited by around 3'000 people last year, can be followed in two different ways: by visiting the associated companies “for free”, with the help of information provided by the ministry; or by participating in the guided tours which will take place every Staurday up until December.

On the guided excursions, the participants will travel by coach with a representative from Semilla, who will describe the food production process used by the production companies along the way.

By this means, people will come to know quality foods which have original Majorcan trademarks.
