Staff Reporter THE Minister for Public Works, Housing and Transport, Mabel Cabrer, yesterday opened the renovation works at the old dock in the port of Pollensa, and with these renovations it is hoped that the area will be more attractive to tourists and residents.

These construction works will cost approximately 700'000 euros and will take seven months to complete.
With this project, a new quay will be built, which will be 25 metres long and five metres wide.
Furthermore, this area will be turned into a pedestrianised zone and the old dock will be extended and renovated.
In total, 70 percent of the budget will be for the extension and renovation works to the old dock.
This dock will be extended to 1'044 square metres.
As part of these works, new entry and exits roads from the roundabout and the end of the Pollensa road, to the port (the fishing quay and the Yacht Club) will also be built.

In addition green and garden areas will be installed to separate the roads. This project forms part of the larger aim of the Balearic Government to improve the regionally controlled ports, and ultimately to make the ports more attractive to visitors.

At yesterday's meeting the Managing Director of Ports, Fernando Garrido, was also present, as well as the Manager of the Infrastructures and Port Works (a public company), Pedro Iturbide.
