Staff reporter BAR and restaurant owners in Alcudia, angry over the decision by some hotels to offer “24 hour” all inclusive holiday facilities and services this summer, are not ruling out protest action.

Irish bar owner Glenn Brennan, returned to Alcudia Town hall yesterday for another meeting with the mayor Miguel Ferrer.
Glenn, who owns the Harp Bar, said that the meeting was very positive and the Mayor has given them assurances that he will do all he can to help. “However, we can't wait any longer as the season is about to start and the 24 hour all inclusives pose a serious threat to our business, so we are going to take the issue of unfair competition to the European Court,” he said yesterday. “We are also considering taking protest action as we have received a huge amount of support from fellow business people and employees in Alcudia and some of the other resorts,” he added.

Glenn and fellow bar, restaurant and amusement arcade owners have set up an “all inclusive 24 hours no” petition which has already been signed by scores of people and they are not ruling out opening all hours themselves in order to try and compete.
