Staff Reporter A 70-year-old British woman was in a serious condition in Son Dureta hospital yesterday after being knocked down by a car at Minorca airport on Wednesday.

The accident took place at 9am in the departure area of the airport and although the cause is yet to be confirmed, Local Police in Mahon have said that a taxi appears to be implicated. The woman had finished holidaying on Minorca and was on her way back to the UK when the accident happened. She was initially rushed to the Mateu Orfila hospital in Mahon and later flown by helicopter to Son Dureta.
