Palma's Municipal Bus Company EMT is to alter the route of its Number 2 service which currently runs through the historic centre of the city. It crosses the edge of the Avenidas and continues to the Sa Riera park where a new stop is to be set up. The altenative route will start operating on 2nd January. The objective is to promote the use of the Sa Riera car park and increase the number of passengers using the No. 2 route which this year alone has lost 30 percent of its passengers.

Sebastiá Sansó, the President of Palma's parking company SMAP, pointed out that for 25 euros a month (if an annual ticket is purchased) people who live on the edge of Palma or in the outlying areas of Majorca will be able to leave their car in the Sa Riera car park and pick up an EMT bus which takes just 6 minutes to get to the centre.
