“Anti-tobacco” clinic at Son Espases in Palma helped 556 smokers last year

Unit Coordinator Gabriel Jaume claimed yesterday that the service has a 60 percent success rate, referring to the proportion of clients who are able to give up smoking after a year of consultations.

Jaume said that patients attending the unit are mostly those who are suffering from a medical condition for which they have been advised to give up smoking altogether. An entire physiological assessment is given of patients before starting the course, he explained.
