THE Association of Majorcan Tourist Service Businesses (Acotur) has arranged a demonstration for April 17 in front of the offices of the Spanish Government Representative's Office in Palma to demand their “right to sell tobacco”.

A spokesman for Acotur said yesterday that they blame the “silence” of the Representative, Ramon Socias, and the Socialist spokesperson in the Balearic Parliament, Francina Armengol, for this problem.

They also criticised the Spanish Government's plans to “appeal against the Balearic law” which permits the islands' tourist establishments to sell tobacco. Acotur added that the Balearic Government “has done everything possible within the law to solve the problem of the sale of tobacco” in tourist establishments.
