7-year-old dies in Campos crash

STAFF REPORTER A seven-year-old boy injured in a car crash near Campos on Thursday evening has died in hospital of his injuries. The tragedy occurred at just before 9pm on the MA-6040 road (right) which links Campos with Sa Colonia. Two vehicles appear to have collided head on very close to the turn-off for Es Trenc. According to the Guardia Civil, the crash happened on a bend when a Citroen driven by 35-year-old Dolores R., collided with a Puerto 206 driven by 24-year-old Tanya F.C. Although the causes are being investigated, eit appears that the car driven by Dolores R, crossed into the path of the oncoming car on the bend. Firemen had to work hard to get the injured out of the vehicles. Dolores' passenger in the back seat was young Miguel Cabello Rueda who although he was able to get out of the vehicle on his own two feet, suffered serious internal injuries and was transferred immediately by Emergency services to Son Dureta hospital. He died in the early hours of yesterday morning. All those involved in the accident came from Colonia de Sant Jordi.
