THE Balearic Ministry of Agriculture and the Balearic Farmers Organisation ASAJA yesterday set down the base of a law which the Balearic Government expects to implement within a month and which will be aimed at improving pork production in the islands and guaranteeing its economic viability. This will be done through a system of grants aimed at cushioning the problems of the sector.
After the meeting with the pork production section of ASAJA the Minister, Margalida Moner, refused to give specific financial figures, although she did say that the proposed grants would be given to improve the installations on pork farms. She added that help would be given mainly to ease the lack of profitability of the Balearic pork producing sector, for water purification systems on each farm and to combat the high price of fodder.
