PALMA
MILLIONS of television viewers would yesterday have seen BBC1's Missing Live documentary about Monique Tennant's continuing search for her 45-year-old sister Jacqueline who went missing while hiking in Majorca on October 8, 2007 and Monique told the Bulletin that she hopes the programme will jog the memories of British hikers who may have seen her sister on that fateful day.

Monique has never ever given up the search for her sister who was not only an experienced hiker but a member of the Women's Royal Air Force Auxiliary with 601 Squadron which is based at Northholt.

Jacqueline's ex-Air Force colleagues have been monitoring the progress of Monique's search closely and have provided help and support whenever possible.

In fact, many were on stand by to travel to Majorca this summer to help Monique as she continues scouring the island for her sister who had been working as a resort rep.. Unfortunately, they will be unable to accompany Monique when she mounts her next search operation in early July because the squadron is currently fighting in Afghanistan. “Jacqueline would have loved to have been out there,” Monique said yesterday. “She would not have given it a second thought, she loved her auxiliary duties,” she added.
Monique is still waiting for the judicial green light on a new technical investigation of how communications company Movistar went about tracing the signal from Jacqueline's mobile phone on the day she went missing. “If we can come up with a more precise location of her final signal, then I will not need to bring a specialist search team back to the island. “I am planning a new operation for the start of July and any local volunteers are welcome to join the search,” she added. “My two sisters are also going to be coming over from the United States to help this new hunt for our sister. “I am also receiving regular updates from the Guardia Civil in Palma. “That's new and very positive, they are clearly taking the investigation in to any possible foul play extremely seriously. “We're not giving up on her,” she added.
