THE campaign “Diver Dental 2007”, which is being held today in the Stations Park (see adjacent story) in Palma, will give free dental check ups to all children who are taking part, with their parents, in the day to promote dental health.

Throughout the day there will also be musical activities and fairy tales for the children.
According to the Balearic Government, the objective of the day is to encourage dental health among Balearic children.
More than 25'000 children between six and eight years old have been invited to participate in this day, which will be open to the public from 10am to 1pm and 4 to 7pm.

The Balearic Association of Dieticians and Nutritionists will also be there, offering advice on healthy eating, with the aim of showing the importance of forming healthy eating habits to improve health and prevent future illnesses.

Everyone attending the day will receive a dental hygiene bag, containing toothpaste, a toothbrush and fruit for a healthy breakfast.
The free dental check up forms part of the Children's Dental Attention Programme, started in 2005 by the Balearic Ministry for Health and Consumer Affairs.

With this programme, the most common and necessary dental treatments are included in the Balearic public health system for children aged between six and 15.

The programme includes, free, an annual check up, preventative advice and fillings, endodontics, urgent treatment and correction of traumas pertaining to incisors and wisdom teeth, amongst other things.
