THE International Day of the Dance will be celebrated at the Xesc Forteza Municipal Theatre in Palma with performances by eight companies between April 19 and 30. None of the shows has been seen in Palma before, according to city council spokesman Pep Lluis Moyá, who said that the companies are a combination of young groups who are just starting out, and veteran companies. The festival opens at 7pm on April 19 with Origami, performed by Mudances, followed on the 20th at 9.30pm by See the Sound, Hear the Movement by Susahee and Paco Vicedo. The other companies are Ganda Jazz Quartet, Pasodos and Ivan Montaña; the Balearic Chamber Ballet; Au Ments; La Quercia; Diverso Alaria and Marta Carrasco. Tickets are five euros, with a special discount for dance students.
