STAFF REPORTER NATIONAL Police have seized 814 kilos of cocaine hidden in a lorry used by a gang of traffickers to smuggle drugs from Argentina into Spain; the haul was followed by seven arrests in Bilbao, Barcelona and Ibiza.

The lorry, disguised as a support vehicle for the recent Paris to Dakar rally with “Repsol” and “Red Bull” logos, was searched after collaboration between the Argentinian Police Federation and Spanish National Police. All seven of the people arrested were Spanish and belonged to one of the largest networks of criminals dedicated to smuggling cocaine into Ibiza. At the flat of one of the detainees in Barcelona, police found a suitcase ready for a quick getaway, along with false Argentinian documentation and 6'000 euros in cash. Police had reportedly identified one of the criminals last summer.
