Staff reporter PALMA is continuing to grow as one of the main centres for Britain's summer cruise season with Ocean Village announcing that its new cruise liner Ocean Village Two is going to be operating out of Palma next year. Following the huge success of the original Ocean Village, which is currently operating out of Palma and also offers a week-at-sea and a-week-on land in Majorca packages, the new ship and new itineraries have been unveiled for its Mediterranean season 2007. Ocean Village Two, which will continue to offer “casual cruising”, will be sailing out of Palma between May and October next year on two exciting Western Mediterranean itineraries. “Marina and Medinas” will sail from Palma to Tunis, Naples, Florence, Pisa, Monte Carlo (Villefranche) and Ajaccio (Corsica) whilst “Villas and Vineyards” will head from Palma for Tunis, Rome, Genoa, St. Raphael and Barcelona. “With the launch of Ocean Village Two, we remain the brand with the newest, largest and best equipped ships in this class. We're also more than measuring up to spa resorts ashore by really putting the ‘aaah' into our spa facilities,” said Peter Shanks, the managing director of Ocean Village. “In addition, we're doubling our capacity and opening up the eastern Med. to people who connect with Ocean Village's informal, upbeat take on holidays afloat. “With a new ship and new itineraries, Ocean Village is set to open up the sights of the Eastern and Western Mediterranean and bring even more choice to the casual cruising market. Plus, with our increased range of departure airports we plan to welcome even more new customers to the cruise for people who don't do cruises,” Shanks added.
