Sunk tourist boat blocks Ibiza port

STAFF REPORTER
THE port of Ibiza was closed to maritime traffic for half an hour at lunch-time yesterday after a tourist boat sunk 50 metres from the dock.
The three occupants of the ferry boat running between Ibiza and Santa Eulalia were not injured in any way when for reasons still unclear, the 12- metre vessel collided with the extreme reach of the jetty, ripping a hole in the hull. Rescue vessels which aimed to get the boat in tow to a repair yard were too late to stop the ferry sinking in the mouth of the port.
