Palma beaches pass the test
21/08/2013 00:00
NEARLY all the sand on the beaches of Palma is classed as excellent, according to a recent survey by the government and Palma city council, who have so far analysed 80 samples. Only two percent of the samples analysed were found to have above average quota of bacteria present. One of these beaches is located near the water channel in Sant Jordi, where the stagnant water has provoked the increase of bacteria on the beach. Currently there is no specific law for sand on beaches, said the councillor for Health and Consumer Affairs, Marina Sans. With regards to the samples that have so far been taken you can say that the sand is very good, said Miquel Estrades, labatorary technician in Palma city council.
