THE Balearic Government's department of Investigation, Technology Development and Innovation will give a total of 2'435'977 euros to 11 programmes to promote projects of investigation and development in the Balearics during 2006-2007.
According to sources from the Balearic Ministry of Economy, Tax and Innovation, which controls this department, this amount of money is triple the 2003 budget for these types of initiatives.
Among the programmes planned is the new project to promote the investigation of quality in social sciences and humanity on the islands. This has a budget of 56'250 euros, while the organising of conferences and seminars, also a new project, will have a total of 120'000 euros.
There are also established projects such as the offer of predoctoral grants, especially for those related to the subjects which are in the Plan for Science, Technology and Innovation 2005-2008. A total of 764'727 euros will be given to this, with a supplement of 150 euros per child per month from 2007 for grant receivers with a child under 5 years old.
