THE National Met. Office, part of Spain's weather agency AEMET, said yesterday that the low risk yellow alert already in place in the Balearics due to high temperatures will remain in place today as conditions are not set to cool down.
Agustin Jansa, director of AEMET's offices in the Balearics said that there is going to be no noticeable downturn in temperatures which are expected to remain at about 36 degrees in the centre of Majorca, 35 degrees in the south and 34 in the east and in the Tramuntana mountain range. The yellow alert is nevertheless expected to be lifted on Minorca and Ibiza. Tomorrow it will affect only the southern and central areas of Majorca but significantly cooler temperatures won't set in until Tuesday or Wednesday of next week.
