The international conservation organisation Ocean yesterday called on the Balearic government to step up its controls of trawlers which are allowed to fish off Cabrera.

Apparently, none of the authorised fishing vessels should be powered by more than 500 CV, but Oceana has apparently got evidence that some of the vessels are using three times the propulsion and that is apparently causing serious damaged to marine life and eco system which is supposed to being carefully protected. At the same time, Oceana repeated its call for the maritime natural park to be expanded.
