THE Brotherhood of Blood Donors of Majorca yesterday started collections in the Binissalem health centre, the third age club premises in Bunyola and the village hall in the Port of Pollensa. This collection is being done because they urgently need to increase reserves of blood for groups O+ and O-. The Brotherhood said that they will be collecting blood today in the Port of Soller, the medical centre in Son Servera and the out patients department in Cala Ratjada, while on Saturday the campaign will move to the municipal dispensary in Colonia de Sant Pere and outside Alcampo. On Monday the Brotherhood will take their campaign to the health centres of Alqueria Blanca, Campos and Ses Salines.
In addition to this, in recognition of the collaboration of the residents of the last mentioned locality, the Brotherhood of Blood Donors had a ceremony in the parochial church at 7.45pm last night to present its badges to the donors who had given blood more than 10, 25 or 50 times. Present at the ceremony, amongst others, was the Balearic Minister of Health, Aina Castillo.
