IN the four days comprising Saturday 28th through to next Tuesday, 31st August, around 738'000 people will have passed through airports in the Balearic Islands signalling the end of the summer holiday period, the National Spanish Airports Authority (AENA) said yesterday.
The passengers will be travelling on 4'598 aircraft which have scheduled take-offs and landings during these four days at the region's three airports.
In Palma, there are 2'888 aircraft movements programmed providing seats for 483'571 people. Today 866 will take place carrying a forecast 145'421 passengers, while tomorrow 131'939 people will be travelling on 787 flights.
On Monday, there are 606 aircraft operations planned providing 97'723 seats whilst on Tuesday, 108'488 people will be travelling in 629 flights.
Meanwhile, AENA reported yesterday that there will be 80'528 passengers using Minorca airport in 570 scheduled take-offs and landings. The day when passenger traffic will be at its heaviest will be today when 27'000 people will be using the airport installations. Yesterday, 19'624 passengers went in or out of the airport , whilst tomorrow there are 19'506 aircraft seats taken and 14'398 on Tuesday in 108 operations. At Ibiza airport during this period, there will be 1'140 aircraft operations providing 174'306 seats. The busiest day was yesterday with 371 take-offs and landing operations, tomorrow 298 are planned, 237 on Monday and 234 on Tuesday.
