The new President of the Balearic Federation of Commercial Businesses, Pau Bellinfante, yesterday called on the Balearics governing to stop blatantly favouring large hyper markers and super stores because its tactic is merely alienating the small business sector losing the party support which could cost them dearly at the next election should the government continue with its policy to help and encourage the development of more super stores. "A large percentage of the commercial sector voted in favour of the party which is government but it’s policy to free up the market so that the hyper markets and super stores can expand, the postponement of the green taxes and other initiatives from the government is damaging traditional commerce, especially in Majorca," he said.
