THE Mayor of Palma, Aina Calvo, and the Balearic Minister of Commerce, Industry and Energy, Francesca Vives, had a meeting to discuss various matters related to commerce, among them the existing situation in the municipal markets.
With regard to this they agreed to visit the various markets in Palma to encourage them with various measures of support, which would assist in securing their future.
Another of the matters discussed was the future shopping centre planned for Ses Fontanelles, although no definite agreement was reached about this.
At the beginning of the month, the council rejected a request by the environmental group GOB to halt work at Ses Fontanelles, the last remaining wetland in Palma, to ensure its protection.
