Accident black spot on ringroad claims two more victims

PALMA
TWO people were slightly injured on Sunday in a car crash at a black spot on the Palma to Soller road in front of the prison.
An initial assessment of the causes of the accident says that one vehicle had come off the ringroad and had pulled to a halt at the “stop” sign, waiting for an appropriate moment to pull out on the Soller road in the direction of Palma. A Renault Megane also coming from the ringroad pulled up alongside the first in order to cross the junction more quickly. However, when it turned left in the direction of the centre of Palma, the Megane was hit by a Ford Fiesta which was heading towards Soller.

After the impact, the two vehicle were strewn over the width of the road. Local Police were called to redirect traffic and document what had happened in the accident. The driver of the Megane, a Bolivian, proved positive after undergoing a breath test. He was arrested and taken to the police station at Sant Ferran. Paramedics attended injuries at the scene and breakdown vehicles removed the cars.
