POLICE are investigating the murder of Pedro Bonnin Fuster, aged 54, whose body was found in a small house in the country near Artá by a friend in the early hours of yesterday morning. He had been repeatedly stabbed and beaten about the head. The Guardia Civil are seeking a man who was seen in a car with the victim on Monday night.
The victim's car, a black Ford Fiesta, was missing and a helicopter was used to search the outlying area for it, without success.
The victim was divorced and had three sons and a daughter.
He had purchased the small house three years ago when he separated from his wife. He was a cook who had also been a butcher and baker, and was said to have financial problems. The house had no electricity. According to Guardia Civil sources, he had received stab wounds to the back and neck and had been beaten about the head with a blunt instrument.
The sources said that a phone call informing them of the death was received at 1.15am yesterday morning.
The call was made from a nearby house by a friend who had found the body.
The Local Police and Guardia Civil immediately sealed off the property and the coroner examined the body. The specialists resumed their investigations as soon as it was daylight. Mayor of Arta.
