PALMA
CROWN Prince Felipe and his wife princess Letizia yesterday presided over the Spanish National Design Award ceremony at Almudaina palace in Palma.
The Spanish National Design Prize 2007 in the professional category was presented to the designer Pati Nuñez for her “impeccable career, the formal elegance of her work and her audacity and generosity.” The Spanish National Design Prize 2007 in the business category was awarded to Andreu World S.A for the company's “business strategy based on the use of design, creating opportunities for budding talents and spreading design culture.” The prize was collected by the founder Francesc Andreu.

The awards, organised by the Ministry for Trade, Tourism and Industry, were praised this year for highlighting the extremely high level which Spanish design has reached in national and international markets.

Speeches were given by Prince Felipe and the President of the Balearics Francesc Antich who gave his speech in Catalan and Castellano.
