TRAGAMOVIL is the name of the Environmental Foundation created by Spanish electronics and communications companies to encourage the recycling of mobile phones. According to figures from the Multisectorial Association of Spanish Electronics and Communications Companies (ASIMELEC), every year in Spain some 20 million mobile phones are thrown away. These contain components, 90 percent of which could be recycled. This Foundation is launching a campaign to make people aware of the necessity of recycling old mobile phones to prevent environmental contamination and to promote sustainable development. As part of this ambitious project the Environmental mobile classroom bus, created by Tragamovil, will tour Spain from September 3. This bus will start its journey in Santander and end it in Madrid on December 30, coinciding with Celebration of Youth in the capital. It is expected that some 40'000 people will visit the bus to find out the advantages of recycling their mobile phones.
