Palma.— The Central Government delegate in the Balearic Islands, Ramón Socías said yesterday he is going to be number one on the list at the forthcoming national elections in November, to represent the regional Socialist party (PSIB) in Congress.

Socías said that he had already received considerable support for the move and that several friends had in fact given him the “push” that he needed to take the step. “I've had so much encouragement from people in the party, I'm not going to let them down now,” said Socías. Asked if he were going to challenge ex Balearic President Francesc Antich as General Secretary of the regional Socialist party, Socías said that there would be a party congress next year, and such issues would be addressed then. He said he wasn't going to enter a political battle.
