THIS coming Sunday, Palma City Council will be hosting an international conference on Jewish culture, in which it will be exploring the historic importance of the Jewish community to the island.
An annual event now in its 10th year, the conference has achieved prestige at a national and European level and will be promoting a number of touristic and academic projects encouraging an interchange of experiences. The event has been launched through the collaboration of public authorities and private organisations including the Spanish Network of Jewish Communities which was set up as a non-profit making organisation in 1955. Part of its aims are to protect the country's Jewish architectural and historic heritage.
