AS of today, buying and selling at reasonable prices will be the key theme of Marratxi's new Sunday market, set up for local people to have the chance to make a bit of extra money in hard times.
Local Mayor, José Ramon Bauza and the President of the new marketeers' association, Tomeu Alou said they want to see the project make a name for itself right across Majorca. The difference about this market, said Bauza, is the fact that it is being run by the people for the benefit of the people. He said that all that the local council needs to do is to back the scheme with plenty of enthusiasm. The official opening today will be held along La Veronica esplanade where 250 second hand goods and craft stalls will be set up. The market will be open from 9am to 2pm.
