Palma.— Protests against Jose Ramon Bauza, president of the Balearic government, are rising fast after reports this week showed almost 940 people signed a petition online asking for his resignation.
In the online document, entitled “the ungovernment of the Balearic islands”, they complain the executive rules “at will” and continues to refuse to make life for residents any easier.
The group says Bauza continuously fails to respect the local language, culture and does not seem to apply many of the articles in the local Constitution. On the webpage change.org, there is also a video which features a person demonstrating what it’s like to be an “ungoverned citizen”, displaying several billboards saying it is time for people to “Ask for what they deserve”, “Me and you don’t live above our possibilities”, and “You are also ‘ungoverned’ until you do something about it”.
They ask Bauza to resign for “not listening to the people” and for the cuts in education, health, forestry planning and public services. The support for the group is growing thanks to the success the campaign is having in the social networks.
