NATIONAL Police officers have arrested a couple who live in Son Gotleu, and accused them of bringing between 12 and 15 kilos of cocaine a month to Palma from Barcelona. The judge ordered them to be remanded in custody, after a court appearance.
The couple, named as Juan G C, aged 28, and Maria del Carmen V V, aged 30, had been under surveillance for the past two months.
The man, who has a record, and no known means of support, was known to make frequent trips to Barcelona, sometimes staying for the day, sometimes for just a few hours. He travelled first class and was always well dressed. On occasions he was accompanied by his wife and they always stayed in luxury hotels. According to police sources, he never carried the drugs himself, but sent them by parcel, addressed to his wife. The couple were arrested as they went to pick up two parcels which were allegedly found to contain loudspeakers in which 2.2 kilos of cocaine were hidden. Another package was found to contain a kilo of cocaine hidden in a television set.
