THE Council of Majorca is presenting a cultural itinerary pilot project in Cork (Ireland) which will include a series of flour grinding windmills restored by the Council of Majorca. This restoration was done as part of the Programme of Restoration of the Countryside.
The presentation in Ireland started yesterday and will continue until September 20. According to sources from the Council of Majorca, in this workshop (which is part of the European Cultural Project) the department for Nature and the Environment is presenting the cultural heritage as a tool of regional development and, because of this, the Council of Majorca has given more than 1.4 million euros to the initiative. The European Project's main objectives are to avoid the loss of cultural heritage, encourage the conservation and restoration of rural and natural heritage, promote this heritage to both residents and visitors and encourage education and awareness in the population in general.
